Carissa Hicks, DOR, Grove Manor
The holidays are a special time of year – filled with traditions, memories, and special moments. The ACR team at Grove Manor has the privilege of spending the season with our residents. The traditions we’ve enjoyed with them include making ornaments, decorating a Christmas tree, listening to holiday music, and sharing memories. But like so many things, the ways in which we celebrate the holidays have been affected by the pandemic. However, the holiday spirit is not in short supply here! The Grove Manor ACR team believes in the Magic of the Holidays and wants to try to still bring Joy to the World! Because indoor decorations have to be limited, we decided to Deck the Halls outside. We joined forces with all the other departments to make sure that each resident can see a lighted Christmas display from their window. The therapy team is decorating the courtyard outside our gym in a North Pole theme. Jonie Myers, one of our COTAs, is the creative force and inspiration behind our work. Jonie designed and made a polar bear family and a group of happy penguins who are enjoying the ice on our pond. Her artwork will be accompanied by colorful lights, a 9 foot lighted Christmas tree, and a fence line decorated with jumbo candy canes, ribbon, and garland. We are excited about this opportunity to try to help the season be Merry and Bright for the residents and staff! ‘Tis the season for giving! Our residents give us so much joy every day; and it is our honor to try to give back to them and let them know how much they mean to us. So here at the North Pole, ACR says ‘Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!’
May you all be blessed this season and enjoy the things that make it the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
